Tweed Business Retention & Expansion Survey

Business Survey from 24th of February - 31st of March 2010

To design effective strategies for future employment generating economic growth, it is essential to develop an accurate understanding of the needs, weaknesses, capacities and strengths of existing business and their potential for growth. TEDC firmly believes that the success of this business survey is critical to broadening, retaining and expanding business, and business services in the Tweed, and through this process encouraging Council, local business chambers, and the business community to work together to achieve our goals.

TEDC proposes to use the Business Survey as a platform for the delivery of a range of actions, and outcomes, benchmarks, and statistics, that can be assessed by the business community, business support professionals and the Tweed Shire Council as key decision making data for developing strategies to encourage business growth, expansion and investment attraction across the Tweed.

Whilst the intention of the survey is to develop a better and more informed understanding of the issues and challenges faced by Tweed businesses, it is also an opportunity to improve the linkages with businesses and thereby engage business in the development of future activities which may assistance their business growth.

The needs and opportunities of the local business community are central to any analysis of the local economy, and the development of strategies for sustainable growth. Existing businesses represent a major source of investment and resource job creation, where there is scope for them to strengthen, grow and expand their operations.
